Product overview for solar building skins

SUPSI – Swiss BIPV Competence Centre

Status Report 2017

In most European countries the new regulations on energy performance in buildings,

derived from the EPDB 2010, have been defined and the time for the regulations to become

mandatory is very near. The energy performance regulations are now taking over as the main

driving factor for the BIPV market. And that has huge consequences. Instead of BIPV finding its

value in being visible and supporting an image, the main value of BIPV products now becomes

to be invisible. In other words: we do not want to see anymore the difference between a regular

building component and a BIPV component.

April 9 -11, 2018 - Future Cities Show Dubai

The second edition of the Future Cities Show is set to take place from the 9th to the 11th of April 2018 in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. The show will highlight the latest and the most innovative technologies, which are set to change the Future

This show is based on the 17 Sustainable Development Goals, which were set by the United Nations and was adopted by 193 countries in September 2015. The show also incorporates the 10X Dubai directives, which were set by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai. This is a radical program that seeks to establish “X Labs” in every government entity and position Dubai 10 years ahead of the rest of the world.

How to Accelerate Architectural Solar in the US Market:

From Building-Integrated Photovoltaic to Building Component

Chris Klinga - ASA Technical Director

Building Integrated Photovoltaic modules (BIPV) are considered to be building–integrated, if the PV modules form a construction product providing a function as defined in the European Construction Product Regulation CPR 305/2011.  Thus the BIPV module is a prerequisite for the integrity of the building’s functionality.  If the integrated PV module is dismounted, the PV module would have to be replaced by an appropriate construction product.
